Longarts Hans in ’t Veen, van het Franciscus Gasthuis en Vlietland in Rotterdam, vertelt op Radio 1 over de gevaren van houtrook:

“Schadelijke deeltjes en moleculen in houtrook kunnen longkanker veroorzaken. Roken was 30, 40 jaar geleden ook gezellig, stoer. Misschien denken we over houtstook over 20 jaar wel net zoals we nu over roken denken. We moeten beseffen wat we onszelf en anderen aandoen.”

Laten we dan ook maar het tabaksbeleid als voorbeeld nemen voor het houtrookbeleid: hoe sneller, hoe beter, want het komt er uiteindelijk toch wel van.
