Houtrook is slecht voor de gezondheid van elke burger. Het maakt niet uit of je jong of oud bent. Sommige mensen zijn er extra gevoelig voor zoals kinderen, ouderen en mensen met ziekten aan bijvoorbeeld longen of hart. De overheid besteedt weinig aandacht aan de gevolgen van houtrook voor de gezondheid. Inmiddels zijn er circa 1,1 miljoen houtgestookte installaties in woningen in Nederland. Iedere dag komen er een aantal bij. Ook zien we een toename van vuurkorven en buitenhaarden. We kunnen nu vaak ook op mooie dagen niet meer buiten zitten.
Stichting HoutrookVrij vindt dat iedereen recht heeft op schone en gezonde lucht. De overheid moet hier duidelijke regels voor opstellen en deze handhaven.
