Waar de Nederlandse overheid wegkijkt doen onze Duitse buren uitgebreid onderzoek naar de milieueffecten van houtgestookte installaties. Al in 2010 verscherpte het Duitse Bundesamt voor Milieu middels een wetsherziening de voorschriften voor open haarden, houtkachels en andere kleine particuliere toestellen om de overlast in woonwijken terug te dringen en de luchtkwaliteit te verbeteren.
Omdat er veel verschillende factoren zijn die een rol spelen bij de vervuiling door houtstook liet het Bundesamt voor Milieu een speciaal computerprogramma ontwikkelen, het programma ‘Biomis‘. Dit programma maakt het mogelijk nauwkeurige berekeningen te maken voor de uitstoot in woonwijken. Lees verder.
